There are several reasons to filter the exhaled air from gas masks. Be it events or other occasions.
I have converted three different masks accordingly and will write down my instructions here.
DISCLAIMER: I do not guarantee that with these modifications it is allowed to participate in events where a medical of FFP2 mask is mandatory.
Converting the MSA Ultra Elite is very simple. First, you open the cap of the exhalation valve on the bottom of the mask.
Then insert one half of an FFP2 mask and close the cap again. Now you cut off the protruding rest - done.
Converting the Auer 3S is also quite easy, although a bit tricky. First, take off the cap on the exhalation valve and put in a medical mask (an FFP2 mask is too thick). Now put the cap back on (carefully using a small flat-blade screwdriver) and cut off the excess material from the medical mask.
With the Scott GSR it works again very similar: you take off the cap over the exhalation valve, cut a FFP2 mask according to the round shape of the exhalation valve (Here you have to make sure that it fits really well, otherwise you won't get the cap tight.), put it in and put the cap back on the mask.
